QTP 10 and flex automation

26 06 2009

I have seen a lot of people wondering if flex automation is supported with QTP 10 or IE8 .Well all I can say is that currently both these configurations are not officially supported by Adobe but i dont see any reason as to why these configurations shouldnt work. In case you do come across any issues please do log a bug in the adobe bugbase.

I tried with QTP 10 and Flex app compiled with libraries i.e. -include-libraries “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\3.1.0\frameworks\libs\automation.swc” “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\3.1.0\frameworks\libs\automation_agent.swc” “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\3.1.0\frameworks\libs\automation_dmv.swc” “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\3.1.0\frameworks\libs\qtp.swc”

But i am unable to record the flex application using QTP. It is recording as Browser(“XXX”). macromediaobject(“XXXX”)

HI Ram
If I am right you are using sdk 3.1and the corresponding AT swcc and that is reaally really old. There are numerous changes made to automation after this .Kindly upgrade your sdk version to 3.4 or 3.5 and let me know if you are still facing the same issue.

I am trying to automate our web application build with Flex, I am able record the UI action, and when it comes to functional test, is halting.
Eg. if I am adding a device to our application, Ip address it takes, and If I say ok
either window is not gone or the device is added to the application. It hangs, need close whole application.
Please advice.

While I can add an object to the repository when I try to highlight that object in the application I get an error message; “The selected object cannot be found in the application. Check that the application is open to the correct page or window and that the object and its parents do not have parameterized values.”
Please advise.

I am using qqtp 9.1. to automate a flex application
The open method of FlexComboBox is not working when scripts are run remotely.

Getting error Open method cannot be found………
The Open method works fine when script is executed locally on the same machine.

So I am guessing it has something to do with remote execution.

Is this a known issue?
Is there a workaround for this issue?

Kindly let me know any resolution for this problem

Hi Shashank
The flexstore link you are trying with is not that of the automation enabled flexstore .please try using this link http://examples.adobe.com/flex2/inproduct/lcds/flexstore/flexstore.html and it should work.
